Andrew Buchanan

Andrew’s passions lays at the intersection of technology with Environmental and Earth Science.

He graduated from UNC in 2023 as a Morehead-Cain Scholar with Honors, Phi Beta Kappa, and a double major in Computer Science and Geology.

His Honors research focused on applying deep learning to better understand mountain growth in the Arctic. He built attention-based neural networks to learn how the thermal evolution of Earth’s crust relates to surface processes, developed software to coordinate satellite data acquisition with hydrology fieldwork, and spent a summer building the internal company dashboard for Pluralsight.

After work

Andrew cares deeply about getting the most out of his body and mind while enjoying each step.

He balanced his final two years of college while training for the Ironman World Championships and wining his age group in Ironman Tulsa. When he’s not cycling, running, swimming, surfing, kitesurfing, rock climbing, or skiing, he’s probably eating his way out of a calorie deficit.
