SolarScope: Your C&I Market Solution

Do your customers for C&I solar look the same as they did three years ago?

If so, you must have some combination of luck and near-prescient market intelligence, and we’d love to partner with you (no, seriously - give us a call). However, if you’re like most rooftop solar shops, you’re looking at a very different market situation than we have ever seen before. The Inflation Reduction Act has opened your doors to a host of verticals not available to you before 2023, from companies in low-income areas or energy communities to small farms and rural businesses with REAP grant opportunities. On the other side if the coin, net metering changes in markets from California to the Carolinas, alongside high interest rates, have lengthened payback periods across the board, forcing company decision-makers to think harder about whether solar is a smart investment now and lengthening turnaround times for your C&I sales.

In this rapidly changing environment, where can you find reliable information about solar opportunities in your service area? Off-the-shelf lead generation services may provide long lists of company contacts, but don’t give you the tools to evaluate prospects and craft a coherent sales strategy. As a result, your sales team spends precious time nurturing opportunities that will never bear fruit, either because your target companies would not see the benefits of solar for years down the line or because the resulting projects are too small for the juice to be worth the squeeze. What’s more, when market conditions change, the leads you’ve been chasing risk becoming all but useless, leaving your team scrambling for weeks or months to find profitable opportunities in this new landscape.

Fortunately, MAIA Analytics has developed a quicker and more reliable solution, and we call it SolarScope. Using data from building and parcel registries alongside company databases and individual websites, our proprietary AI model boils the sea of your service area to find companies with large roofs, stacked incentive opportunities, and public ESG or net-zero commitments. To see this approach in action, take a look at the two maps below. We assembled this dataset of businesses in an EMC area local to one of our clients to test a sales strategy responding to Duke Energy’s changing net metering rules. On the left, we found 3,305 eligible buildings in our client’s service area. On the right, we filtered those leads down into 107 ideal prospects, with roofs large enough to fit a 100kW system and companies with declared commitments to ESG, the green transition, or net-zero targets.

SolarScope’s market intelligence will give you more targeted control over your sales process than ever before - but don’t take our word for it, see what our client had to say:

“MAIA Analytics’ sophisticated approach helped us target specific businesses in our service area based on our custom criteria. MAIA's business intelligence services are unique in the marketplace in how they leverage AI and LLMs to identify the exact prospects I’m looking to target. If you are looking for a collaborative partner to take your prospecting to the next level, then look no further.”
