# Sharing and publishing

MAIA's sharing takes a project and returns a link you can send to anyone, with or without a MAIA account. Export takes a layer and returns a spreadsheet.

## What it answers

A finished project has two ways out. A link lets someone look at the map and the table. An export lets you take the rows into another tool.

## Two kinds of link

The kind of link depends on what the project holds. You do not choose it.

| The project has | The link is | What the viewer does first |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A parcel layer | Gated. The viewer table below applies | Enters a work email and accepts the access terms |
| No parcel layer | Open and read-only. The viewer sees the map and your shapes, and no table | Nothing |

## Share a gated link

1. Open the project's menu and choose **Share**.
2. Choose **Public**.
3. Turn on **Public sharing**.
4. Pick when the link expires: 7, 14, or 30 days.
5. Send the link. The viewer enters a work email, accepts the access terms, and the project opens.

![The project's menu, opened from the three dots at the top right of the project. It lists Share, Contacts, Project settings, and Delete project.](https://maia-analytics.com/product-shots/docs/project-menu@2x.png)

Share is the first item in the project's menu.

> **Note:** Gmail and similar personal addresses are refused unless you turn on the setting that allows them for this link. Before a viewer accepts the terms, they see parcel outlines and nothing else. A viewer's session ends after 24 hours, and they enter their email again.

You see who has opened the link under **Viewers**, and you can download that list.

![The Share this project dialog. Under Who can access, two rows: Public, share with web link, and Workspace members, each reading No access with an arrow to open it.](https://maia-analytics.com/product-shots/docs/share-dialog@2x.png)

The Share dialog. Public is the link for people outside the workspace.

## What a viewer sees

| A viewer sees | A viewer does not see |
| --- | --- |
| The map | Enrichments, including their reasoning and sources |
| The table | Contacts |
| Views and filters | Mailing addresses |
| The parcel columns MAIA allows in a link | Any way to export |
| The conversation, read-only | A chat box. A viewer cannot dispatch work |

A link shows less than the project. That is deliberate. Researched values and contact data stay inside your workspace.

## Revoke a link

Turn off **Public sharing** and the link stops working at once, for everyone who has it. To change a link's settings, revoke it and create a new one. The old link does not carry over.

## Export

Export is turned on per workspace. If you do not see **Download CSV** or **Download Excel**, ask [support](mailto:support@maia-analytics.com) to turn it on.

Export writes a layer as the table shows it, filters applied. A filtered view exports fewer rows than the layer holds.

1. Open the table's options menu and choose **Download CSV** or **Download Excel**.
2. Choose whether to include the reasoning and the sources behind each researched value. Include both when someone else will rely on the file.
3. Choose which contact fields to write.
4. Download. A table over 10,000 rows is refused, so filter it first.

![The table's options menu open, listing Download CSV and Download Excel.](https://maia-analytics.com/product-shots/docs/table-options@2x.png)

Download CSV or Download Excel from the table's options menu.

Saved contacts export on their own, as CSV, from the **Contacts** page.

## Limits

- **10,000 rows per export.**
- **Restricted uses still apply** to anything you export. See [Restricted uses](https://maia-analytics.com/docs/reference/restricted-uses).
- **A link expires in 7, 14, or 30 days.** Every number is on [Limits](https://maia-analytics.com/docs/reference/limits).

## In the app and over MCP

| Where | How |
| --- | --- |
| The web app | **Share**, in the project's menu, for links. The table's options menu for export |
| MCP | Every answer carries a link to the project in MAIA. Links for outside viewers, and exports, are made in the web app |
