# In-chat project view

MAIA's project view is a card that shows a project inside the chat of an MCP client. It shows the run, the answer, a map, and the first rows of the table, without leaving the conversation.

## What it is

In Claude on the web and in the desktop app, and in any client that supports MCP Apps, MAIA shows a project card beside the result of `create_project` and `send_message`. A client that does not support MCP Apps ignores the card and reads the tools' text. Nothing is lost. The tools return the same report either way.

## What the card shows

| Part | What it holds |

| Run status | Whether MAIA is working, waiting on you, or done |
| Steps | What MAIA is doing, with the same labels the web app shows |
| Answer | What MAIA wrote when the run finished |
| Questions and approvals | What MAIA is waiting on, with the choices |
| Map | The first rows, drawn on a map |
| Table | The first rows, as the project's default view shows them |
| Request box | Where you type the next request. A request sent during a run is refused, so wait for the run to end |

The card refreshes on its own as the run moves.

## What it does not show

The card is a window, not the whole project.

- **It shows the first rows only.** Open the project link for the full table.
- **It shows the default view.** Other views, filters, and column settings are in the web app.

## Asking about the data

The card shows rows. It does not answer questions about them. For a question about the data, ask MAIA's agent with `send_message`.

## Limits

- **The card has two tools of its own** for reading a snapshot of the project and the run's status. Your client never calls them, and they do not appear in its tool list. See [Tools](https://maia-analytics.com/docs/mcp/tools).
- **One run per project at a time.** MAIA refuses a new request on the project until the run ends.
- **Approvals still apply.** A step that needs your approval stops and waits, in the card as in the app. See [Runs and approvals](https://maia-analytics.com/docs/mcp/runs-and-approvals).
